TABLEWARE

The result is a stunning series of stoneware dishes with three different looks: Camo Green, Rusty Brown and Indi Grey. I am of the opinion that different sizes and shapes all have their own function. So in order to stimulate creativity, we made the series as extensive as possible with cups, plates, bowls and dishes in all sizes, from low to tall, and from small to extra-large. A beautifully served meal makes it taste even better!

GLASSES

Glasses are used for drinking different kinds of beverages throughout the day, so I thought it was very important that you could have the choice to use them for whichever drink you desire, without compromising on style or class. Whether for wine or water, cocktails or sodas, juices or smoothies, coffee or tea … the glasses must be fit for all.

Every chef will agree with me: the road to perfection begins at the cutting board. There is no way you can conjure a delicious and healthy meal onto the table when your knives are dulled by the wood. Thus, my choice of high-grade Canadian maple wood for the cutting boards of the Surface Collection was the logical one. In addition, the wood becomes more and more beautiful as it ages. I chose different sizes and shapes for the Surface Collection, so that the boards are not limited to the preparation of the food, but they are also perfect as presentation boards.

CUTLERY

The shape is based on the classic French restaurant cutlery I have worked with for 25 years in the ‘Oud Sluis’, and which I have also chosen for ‘Pure C’ and ‘The Jane’. Why change something that is near perfect? I did not, and I am extremely proud of the resulting Surface Collection cutlery, because I am convinced that this cutlery collection provides the solution to the disadvantages of well-known restaurant silverware. The stone-washed finish gives the spoons, knives and forks that contemporary look I wanted them to have, and makes them very wellsuited for everyday use. All the ingredients for eating in style are there!

KITCHEN KNIVES AND STEAK KNIVES

Love for craftsmanship, friendship and perfect cooperation. These were the three pillars that Tomer Botner, Serax and I established as a basis for the exclusive, handcrafted knives for the Surface Collection. A large all-round kitchen knife, an office knife for the more delicate work and a steak knife, with blades made of the strongest Swedish steel and handgrips from the same high-grade maple wood we use for the cutting boards. I wanted these knives to be suitable

OVEN DISHES AND TABLE COASTERS

Whether you order a portion of olives in Italy, a crema catalana in Spain or a crème brûlée in France, they are practically always served in terracotta oven dishes. They are handy, versatile and a joy to behold on every table, so I simply could not resist adding my very own version of these dishes to the Surface Collection. Oven-proof, easy to use and maintain, contemporary, and with their own, unique identity - that is what I wanted. And it is with great pride that I can say that they have turned out just as I imagined them! The matte black makes them unique, the stem makes a world of difference in the handling and the material and quality are identical to the classic examples.

Remembering the many happy times I enjoyed dining in exotic Ibiza, I decided that this collection needed one more thing: table coasters. I opted for multi-purpose coasters, in different sizes, made of woven water hyacinth, with colours matching the rest of the items in the Surface Collection. Not only do they protect the table against the heat coming off oven dishes or pans that are placed centrally on the table, but they also look lovely as personal coasters under your plate and cutlery. It is all in the details … they give your table a natural feel, a welldressed look and a whole lot of personality!
