With her keen photographic eye and his background in graphics, Luca Beel and Adriaan Tas complement each other perfectly. They both share the same view that a piece of furniture should not only be functional, but also beautiful. With this vision, the young, talented duo won the design competition for young talent organised by Knack Weekend, in collaboration with Serax, in 2017. They achieved this with their multifunctional furniture design 'Roman'.
Luca Beel inherited her love for architecture from her father, Stéphane Beel, architect of, amongst other projects, the international art centre deSingel in Antwerp. After finishing her photography studies and half a year of furniture design, she integrated this love for buildings, lines and stones into her work as an architectural photographer. The objects and furniture she designs also reveal an unmistakable emphasis on form and material. Adriaan Tas studied both graphic design and furniture design. In his work, he tries to find common ground between these two disciplines, subsequently interweaving them with a wide interest in visual arts, photography and architecture. Luca and Adriaan have not been active in the design world for long, but we will undoubtedly hear of their names more often in the future.
