Collection
Heritage is a lighting collection designed by French interior architect Sophie Ferjani for Serax. Made from two elemental materials, chamotte clay and raw wool, each lamp pairs a generous stoneware base with a shade of unspun wool that softens the light and gives it warmth. Some bases look scratched or cracked, like dry earth, while others carry a touch of enamelled Provençal colour, so every piece feels tactile, grounded and intentionally imperfect.
Based in Marseille, Ferjani drew on the pottery of the South of France and on the familiar objects of her grandparents' house. The tallest lamp recalls the large Provençal jars that have been used there for generations. The collection brings together table and floor lamps, a wall lamp and a ceiling lamp, all made to be touched, used and kept. The name Heritage refers to the knowledge of hands that shape clay and work wool, and carries the warmth and texture of the Mediterranean into the home.
Designer
Sophie Ferjani is a French interior architect and designer known for her warm, distinctly Mediterranean approach to interiors. Trained in spatial design at ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres, she opened her own studio in 2005, creating spaces guided by a natural balance of material, form and colour. Inspired by the South of France and its way of life, Ferjani is drawn to honest materials, relaxed forms and the beauty of imperfection. In 2017, she opened La Sélection, her concept store in Marseille, followed in 2023 by her own brand of textiles, tableware and candles inspired by Mediterranean living.
For Serax, Sophie Ferjani brings this tactile design language to the Heritage lighting collection. Inspired by Provençal pottery and traditional craftsmanship, the collection combines textured chamotte clay with raw wool to create table lamps, floor lamps, wall lamps and ceiling lights with a warm, timeless character.
