Collection
The Cabbage est un objet céramique sculptural, inspiré des textures et des formes superposées des plantes. Daphne de Gheldere a combiné des éléments d’un chou de Savoie, d’une alocasia et d’un lierre pour créer une nouvelle forme hybride, à la fois organique et fonctionnelle. Façonnée à la main en grès chamotté et recouverte d’un émail vert foncé et brillant, la pièce célèbre la vitalité des plantes vivantes. Sa forme fluide et stratifiée, avec ses courbes douces et ses feuilles superposées, crée une sensation de mouvement et de croissance, reflétant l’irrégularité naturelle du monde végétal. The Cabbage invite à la curiosité et encourage à observer la beauté et la complexité de la nature, à travers une connexion discrète et tactile avec le monde naturel.
Designer
Belgian-born Daphne de Gheldere is part of a new generation of ceramic artists redefining the language of clay. Trained in art and design at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, she soon discovered ceramics as the most natural way to give form to her imagination. Her work draws on the diversity of nature, shaping pieces that seem to evolve like living organisms and transforming the familiar into something unexpected.
Though early in her career, Daphne has already carved an international path. In Vallauris, the historic cradle of French ceramics, she learned the craft alongside artist Olivia Cognet. In New York, she collaborated with plaster artist Stephen Antonson, refining her sense of sculptural form and materiality. Today, she continues to expand her practice while pursuing a Master's degree in Ceramics and Glass at the Royal College of Art in London.
At the beginning of what promises to be a rich trajectory, her work already reflects a distinctive voice, one that continues to evolve much like the natural forms from which it draws.
